Description of Issue

Lately Roon is very slow to respond, both when accessing artists, and once an album or track is selected, I will press play on iPad or iPhone and it takes very long for the track to start playing. This has just started within the last 2-3 weeks.

@John_Moyers1, Roon and the Community needs additional information to assess what you are experiencing. Can you please add information about your network (what is using WiFi, what is using a cabled Ethernet connection, what is connected to what), how large is your library, what version of Roon you have installed on your Windows 11 Core and what is on your iPad and iPhone, etc.

My Roon core PC is wired to a powerline ethernet connection. All other devices on the network are over wifi, Auralic Aries, Matrix i-pro 3 mini, Bluseound Nodes 2i and Sonos Connects make up the system. My library is approaching 65,000 tracks and is accessed from a USB hard drive connected to the Roon core PC. I’m using ver. 2 of Roon on the Windows 11 Core, ipad and iphone.

I am thinking the Powerline adapter may be the issue. Roon states that while Powerline adapters may work, their reliability and bandwidth are not consistent:

Can you temporarily move your Core PC so it can be connected directly via an Ethernet cable to your router and see if this eliminates the sticking behavior?

Didn’t solve anything. It’s gotten to the point where Roon is getting unusable, which is irritating considering what I pay.

So I discovered that re-starting the Roon core on my PC will fix the problem for a day or so. This tells me there’s something wrong with the Roon app and nothing to do with my system (I’ve changed nothing in months in any event). The lack of response to this issue I find concerning.

i faced same bad behavior. I just created an automatic task everyday (Windows) to restart PC.
Since , no issue at all!

Hey @John_Moyers1,

I’m sorry for the delay in getting to your thread!

As a next step, let’s refresh your RAATServer database. You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

Let me know if you run into this issue again after performing the above. If so, please share the specified date, time, as well as the track playing when the issue occurs. Thanks! :+1:

Thanks, I’ll try that. One thing that seems to fix it for a few days is simply restarting the Roon app on my computer.
