I have Cambridge Audio Edge NQ that was upgraded with Roon Ready and have downloaded the Roon Remote App for Android.
Do I need Core (a PC Switched on) for using it?

Yes, you need Roon Core to make use of the service. You can start a trial and download the software from https://roonlabs.com/downloads.
