Roon ready DAP 2023 (Updated Title)

But then your audiostream is down- or up-sampled because you’re not in “roon ready mode”.

Again wrong! We have the devices so believe us please. You use the FiiO Roon app to and remote together. Install Roon Remote choose the FiiO Roon Ready zone, control it like any other device in Roon. You don’t use the remotes audio zone that should be disabled.

So you mean… Roon Ready functionality runs in the background while your Roon Remote App has focus, So both run concurrent on the same device ??? So you’re able to control on and stream bitperfect to the FiiO. And by the way it’s a good thing to be wrong. That’s the way people learn.

Exactly, FiiO Roon app enables Roon Ready mode but allows for the Roon remote app to be used.

Which FiiO do you have ? M11 Plus?

It’s the same on all the FiiO RR range I have the plus @UliR has the Plus LtD.

Thanks I’ll get me one. But ARC still is an issue. No bitperfect playback on that. (Also not on FiiO) But I can live with that. Or Am Iwrong again. Thanks anyway…

You’re right here. Arc is limited to being resampled and it tends to be what rate the dac was left in before Roon plays. So if fresh on it tends to upsample all to 384/24 on the device annoyingly.

Yes, I can confirm that strange Arc behaviour on my M11 Plus LTD as well.

Got My FiiO M11 Plus today. Very happy with the purchase. Finally … “Lossless Bitperfect Audio via Roon on an Android DAP” at a reasonable price.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi,

A simple question. Downloading music to your DAP. Does this get saved on the SD card if inserted or to the memory of the device. Does it have any sense to get an SD-card for that matter. At least for now ?

Kind Regards,

Today, I am pretty sure Arc will not see any storage other than the built in storage.

With that said, I copied a ton of music to a one terabyte SD card, and use the native player for that music.

But if you want to only listen to music through the Roon interfaces, then an SD card is useless at this point.

Hoping they add the capability to see SD cards

It would be so convenient to be able to select your music from Roon for use on the go, And be able to listen without the need for an internet connection. Maybe one day. Anyway thanks for your answer.

Kind regards,

No it does not. Arc only supports local storage.

Also if you format the SD-card as internal storage it doesn 't use it?

It will see it as the whole storage but wouldn’t recommend you do that, never had much success with adopted storage it’s not very reliable.

Didn’t work here:

Anyway, no Android phone of the several I owned worked reliably with SD cards formatted as internal storage, I tried with Tidal and Qobuz apps and somehow the SD card always got f-ed up, could not be mounted, etc.

Robert, I too have an iBasso DX320 and use both Roon and Arc with pretty good audio (Signal pass: High Quality) from both.
iBasso isn’t Roon Ready but you still can get quite satisfying results by setting the iBasso dacs to 192kHz by playing such an hi-res flac file from Tidal or Qobuz or your own file before opening Roon or Arc. This seems to “lock” the iBasso dacs to this sampling rate. You still have resanpling going on but to a higher resolution which still sounds pretty good with my 64 audio u12t and trio.
Cheers.

  Fred.
