There are plenty of CD players with Optical DAC inputs. Buy one and plug in a Chromecast Audio. It’ll sound fine.

I’ve searched elsewhere but can’t seem to find the answer and this thread seems as good a place as any to ask:

With the Uniti Star if I use it to play a CD, can that be streamed to all my other speakers/devices via Roon? I.e. can I set a CD playing on the Star and then use Roon to stream that round the house? Thanks

No it won’t, Roon has no idea about the cd player in the star nor any input for external sources. If you have other naim streaming systems you can multiroom it to those I think but it’s purely Naims own kit nothing else.

Does anyone know the answer to this for definite? Can you multiroom to other Naim speakers when playing a CD on a Uniti Star (using the Naim app)? I’m aware this can’t be done via Roon but can it using the Naim app?

I wondered the same when I decided to look for both a CD player and streamer. I’ve never seen anything mentioned online that the Unit Star can stream the disc it is playing.

On another note, there are rumors that the Marantz CD50N will be Roon Ready shortly.

I believe it’s possible yes, same as the analogue in on Unitis can be multroomed.

Just bought one, can confirm answer to my own question! You can set a CD playing on the Uniti Star and stream it via the Naim app to other Naim speakers/devices.
