Benjamin,
Roon remote asks to connect to core, then the following msgs are generated:
Downloading… Installing… There was an error checking for an update.
Roon core is Mac Mini OS 13.5.2 version 2, build 1182. iPad iOS 16.6.1 build 1303.
I get the same message sequence when I go to the “About” in the Roon core. I am under the impression that the core automatically updates itself.
What gives???

Moved to #support , added the actual issue to title, and paging @benjamin assuming that there is a reason for that

Hey @George_Wetherby , to receive appropriate help, it would be really helpful if you could complete the template provided below.
You can copy and paste it in your reply.
Please be sure to include details of your core, network, storage location of your media files, and any messages displayed by Roon.
Including these details in your first post helps resolve your issues faster.

Or you could just download the current installer and execute that to fix your issue, although it‘s still unclear why the update function fails.

There have been some other threads where the downloaded installer may be not current and then it wants to update anyway. Not sure what’s going on

Description of Problem
Cannot use Roon Remote because Roon Core will not update. The following sequence of messages is generated: “Downloading…. Installing…. There was an error checking for an update”
I was under the illusion that Roon Core automatically updates, what gives???
Hey @George_Wetherby ,
Ben with the support team here, thanks for the tag and for your patience!
As a next step, lets set aside your current database and see if your issue persists:
Create a Backup of your current database
Exit out of Roon
Navigate to your Roon Database Location
Find the folder that says “Roon”
Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
George_Wetherby:
Connection is wifi
I would strongly suggest hardwiring your core directly to your router while we troubleshoot. Let me know how things go!
