Description of Issue

I just bought a Honor Pad X8 tablet and installed roon remote. It will show the roon startup logo on screen and close after waiting some time. I tried many times with the same results. No luck getting into the app. Other devices running roon remote are working fine.

Tested roon arc and launched just fine and is working.

Many thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issue. Same problem persists.

I tried uninstalling the app and installing the APK from roon website. It did not work. Same issue as before.

We’ll want to review a more thorough diagnostic report from the device. It does appear that this tablet falls towards the bottom end of Roon’s requirements, as something to keep in mind while we troubleshoot.

As a next step, connect your PC to Android phone and install ADB (instructions are here (all platforms)). Then:

  1. Type adb shell in terminal
  2. Type logcat v (ref: Logcat command-line tool  |  Android Studio  |  Android Developers)
  3. Reproduce the problem and let terminal print logs for 3-5 more seconds
  4. Select output from the moment you started the reproduction of the bug till the very end
  5. Upload the log here and let us know once you have done so:

Logs seem to show the backend of Roon is still doing things when the Roon logo appears but doesn’t progress. Issues seem to be tied to the UI components of the device.

Please make sure other apps are temporarily turned off while trying to launch Roon.

Are you still running into issues on the latest production update? I would perform a clean install on the tablet and see if your issues persist.
