Rock installer is unable to partition disk
not relevant to my question
Not much to go on here, but I would imagine your installer usb stick isn’t working, does it boot into the Rock installer utility?
Yes, it does, it asks me to install on the disk and it fails then with partitioning.
Why do you want to partition the disc?
The ROCK installer automatically does this but fails in this instance. It happened a few times before according to forum threads. One of these threads had a photo, note that this happens during ROCK installation:
Several of the existing threads don’t end with a posted resolution, but it looks like it may be caused by some issue with an existing partition on the disk. It was solved in this thread by removing everything with a low-level tool:
Removing partitions with a low level tool like Live Linux USB was my next step. But, if I succeed in removing my RockOS 1.0 installation related partitions, and there is a new failure, I’m unable to install Rock at all. So that is why I did not proceed. However, I ordered a Nucleus One. So, the problem will not solve itself but become irrelevant. However, it’s important this gets fixed.
Hi @Bram_Heerink,
Thank you for your post. We’ve activated diagnostics and noticed an active RoonServer instance on the current RoonOS and production build releases.
Are you now able to run Roon in the interim while the replacement for the ROCK ships?
We’ll keep an eye out for your response.
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. Yes, Roon works fine. I wanted to reinstall to upgrade the Operating System, 2.1 which contains Tailscale:
Hello Everyone,
We’re excited to announce the latest release of Roon OS, now featuring native Tailscale support!
While many users enjoy seamless connectivity with ARC, we recognize that some encounter challenges due to ISP restrictions, router configurations, and other technical issues. To address this, we’ve integrated a simple Tailscale setup into Roon OS. You can now enable Tailscale with just a few clicks. Note that you’ll still need Tailscale running on your phone for ARC, but the setup on your Roon OS has been streamlined for ease of use.
This update is available for ROCK users running the UEFI build as well as for Nucleus One and Nucleus Titan users. We are actively developing a program to extend this update to a broader range of Nucleus devices - stay tuned!
We hope this integration enhances your Roon experience, and we are committed to continually improving our service.
Version 2.1?
Yes, this is version 2.1. You might be wondering what happened to 2.0. During the transition to Harman, version 2.0 should have been the UEFI build, but it wasn’t. We’re correcting that now with this update. If you want to think of a 2.0 version, consider builds 1.0.256 to 1.0.261 as 2.0 (builds 256-261).
Thank you for your continued support,
The Team at Roon LabsBuild Numbers
