Roon search extremely slow - how to fix it? BUILD 1353

This has happened in the past when some of the Roon cloud servers have failed over the weekend and there is no one at home to fix it. The server’s are regional from memory so it might depend which if any server’s require a restart or similar.

I started seeing this issue this morning, but sometime a search is fast and other times it takes 7-10 seconds before it comes to life.

Same issue here.
The search is a bit slower.
And the “Waiting for Roon server” keeps popping up after the update.

Roon updates used to be bulletproof.
I hope maybe it has to do with lots of people trying to download the update.
Hopefully this situation eases later on, or a new patch comes out soon.

I feel bad for Roon sometimes. My system was not affected but clearly many are experiencing slow downs. I always hate trying to fix problems that affect some but not others. Hopefully there’s a common cause and it’ll be sorted quickly. Hopefully the fix won’t mess the rest of us up :scream:

Same issue, since 1353, which is very disappointing. The search performance on 1303 was excellent. It is surprising that it was not identified in testing. Its not just this weekend. It featured precisely from the last update and has been consistently poor.

Confirm with the above comments since the latest update its all gone buggy, slow (Layman Dept) and Malwarebytes is constantly blocking the Roon Windows 11 app now, it was excluded before.

Haven’t found the search any slower or worse since the last upgrade, but the loading of the results when selecting an artist, or an album, so more navigating Roon. And I also have the “waiting for roon core” when switching to the iPhone app after having it in the background appearing very frequent.

Is there any feedback from the supportteam?
Or is it just for talking about some observations?

Is roon aware of the bug?

This seems to be related to searches with fairly large libraries and the last update.

In the meantime, if you can temporarily disable some larger parts of the 600k library it should speed things up.

Thanks for feedback
Just for info - My library has only 305k

Same problem here, nothing to do with library since same happens with Tidal searches.

The search part is a minor problem on my end, yes it’s really slow after the update. Constant stop of music play when I wanna see the queued tracks on a playlist is major though. And the endless ”looking for roon core” when it happens. Again not a single problem before this update. I’m in Sweden if it’s some regional problem

The slow down is actually real and really a pain in the ass - makes Roon unusable for me atm. 500k library located in the EU…

Same issues here. It’s incredibly slow at times. 84k tracks library, local files,Tidal and Qobuz subscriptions, located in the EU.

@joel has forgotten to put a coin in the electric meter again

In the UK, a little sluggish tonight

57K tracks from Qobuz and own library

Seems to be resolved now, at least for me here. Response is now comparable to using the same streaming services outside Roon.

Win 10 laptop, 99k library, Asia.

:scream: Only a few then!

Same problem here. Library is only 40k and it’s a drag. I’ve cleaned image cache as well as running library maintenance and of course rebooting. I was waiting 10-20 seconds per song first thing this morning. Worst update I’ve seen from Roon. Hope they sort it out soon.

Edit - Roon Rock NUC, 480gb Drive, 1TB internal storage, 8gb Ram files stored locally and from Qobuz. Software all current and everything hardwired.

I was experiencing similarly delayed search in recent days as well as my MacBook disappearing as an audio zone frequently.

Since this morning, it appears to be more or less resolved here in the EU as well. Core library 75k, running roon on a silent Qnap.

I noticed one interesting thing: Queries containing a keyword like ´Mozart´, ´McCartney´ or `Bach´ with a zillion of references in my library still seem to be slower than they used to be. Same is true to the composition list of a specific composer with a vast oeuvre of composition and associated recordings like Franz Schubert in my case.

As I use the composition lists a lot. Them being slow was the main reason for me to cut down my core library to 75k as the whole thing with well over double the number of tracks got inconvenient before already (as well as me being lazy to tag the rest which I almost never listen to anyway).

Yes, now Roon seems to be running smooth again!
