Roon ARC profiles to be optionally set to be unable to modify or delete tracks
I have considered allowing family or guests to use Roon ARC on my account but I’m paranoid that they may accidentally modify or delete tracks.
I would love to set certain profiles to be denied permission to modify my library.
Is this something that could be considered?
user profile management request - bumping as a new topic as it appears to have received little to no attention.
Features desperately needed:
- admin (do anything)
- restricted user (suggest a simple table with user / particular features as check boxes)
- Restricted users should NOT be able to faff with anything under setting
- admin should be able to check which audio zones/devices the user is allowed to select to play to / displays to use.
The intent would be:
- protect “our” precious Roon server’s from “users” stuffing things up / breaking it…
- Stop siblings (or others) from going to war by randomly starting playback in each other’s rooms / taking over a streamer in a room they shouldn’t at any time of day or night.
I currently run RoonRock, and having the same admin account on the webpage would also be massively useful, and i would imagine super easily implement - i would even be ok without a forgot password reset option (ie have to blow away the config if you lose the password), if that is the part stopping this being done.
I do see value in some more granular control for explicit content / other existing global features, but see the above as the minimum before letting either tech savvy(ish) fiddlers or totally incompetent people anywhere near a Roon client.
Bumping by making a new topic won’t help your cause - voting does - and diluting votes by having multiple similar feature suggestions doesn’t help either. So I’ve merged your post into the existing thread. Please vote for it using the Vote button at the top of the thread.
PS, also note the comment from Roon Labs in the Title of this thread…
I was vote #100.
This is a must have here.
I first asked about this 8 years ago and recognised then that low priority on the roadmap meant a slow delivery of solution.
But seriously is this actually being considered at all?
Since I am the OP of this Suggestion, I quite understand. ![]()
