If the RoonServer app is located on the Mac, then yes, it must be opened to function properly. If you turn off your Mac and it is the server, then it is expected not to locate the Roon Server until the Mac is started again. Hope this answers your question, but if further clarification is needed, please let us know!
Thats not the issue. The mac is on and the roon app says roon server searching. Thus it can’t connect. All i did was turn the computer off. I hope this isn’t an ongoing issue. I just need to know how to reconnect without losing my library. Thanks. Only option being offered seems to put my tracks at risk
Understood! It’s very likely Roon Server isn’t actually running within your Mac.
If you head to: Finder > Applications > Right click the Roon app icon > Show Package Contents > Double click the Roon Server icon, are you able to get Roon Server up and running again?
Once Roon Server is running again, you can click the Roon icon in the upper right-hand corner of your Mac > Launch at startup. That way you won’t have to worry about launching Roon Server each time you reboot your Mac:
It has been some time, so we wanted to check in with you. Do you still need assistance with this issue? Can you please let us know if you were able to find the app as per @benjamin 's instructions? Thanks!
