Describe the issue

Roon App says: Time for an update. Roon Server cannot connect with this version of ARC. Please update your Roon Server to reconnect. This is a lot of strange stuff. Again: It says "this version of ARC". I have the latest version of ARC. But then: I need to update my Roon Server. I have the latest version of the Roon Server. How does this work? What do I have to do?

Describe your network setup

Unifi DreamMachine. Port forwarding enabled. Test of Roon Server for ARC Service successful.

Have you installed early access builds on either the server or the mobile device runing ARC?

This can happen when one device is on latest early access and one on latest production.

If the versions are OK as @Wade_Oram described, it might be a known issue that has affected some people recently. In this case, reinstalling ARC helps (but you will lose your ARC downloads):

Hey @Klaus_Nehrke,

I can see from your account information that your Roon devices are all running the latest version of Roon as of ~ an hour or so ago, are you still running into issues with Arc?

Hi,

I’ve had the same problem and solved it by logging out of the server in the app and reconnect.

Steps:

  • In the screen which says: ‘Time for an update …’ click on the button to go to offline mode or alternatively in the main screen click on the wheel in the right upper corner to go to Settings.
  • Scroll all the way down and click to ‘disconnect from ’.
  • You will be disconnected.
  • Login again.
  • Logon seems to succeed (no errors displayed) but you’ll still end up in the same screen ‘Time for an update’…
  • Select offline mode.
  • You’ll notice that it will have synced your latest played items, confirming that there has been a good connection to the server.
  • Toggle the offline mode from “on” to “off” to connect to the server.
  • The correct connection will now’ve been fully restored.

I think it must be a glitch / problem in the authorization process. I’ve had this problem already with the update before this one. It persisted using the latest update. The app mentioned in offline modus that I hadn’t logon for over a month, 2 months with the latest update.

It might be useful to mention that I use an Iphone 8 Plus which is now fixed on iOS version 16.7.10. (Yes I know, it’s old haha :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: but still works perfectly). Roon core is on Windows Server 2019 (which still receives updates).
