For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.
· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.
Describe the issue
My roon core is my apple macbook pro, M1 Max, and the Sonoma OS update to version 14.6.1 seems to have damaged something Roon server needs to start. when trying to start my roon server, it just hangs.
Describe your network setup
wifi 6 Asus router connected to an xfinity compatible cable modem.
Since I cannot start-up Roon, I cannot change the server either. I can’t even see the settings to try to change the server itself (although I have not set up a second one). It looks like the Mac OS update broke something fundamental to Roon.
You didn’t say what you see when you click on “Select a different Roon Server”.
Sometimes changes to the system confuse the Roon server identity and so a server that is present is thought to be a different server and is thus ignored until “Select a different Roon Server” is selected - upon which time your Roon Server will be seen as an option to select.
Roon doesn’t start. I have no ability to switch the server choices because I have no access to any element of Roon to be able to change its settings. Literally nothing is accessible since it wont’ starta up, it just hangs.
We can confirm that your RoonServer instance on this Mac hasn’t pinged our servers in at least nine days.
Do you have any third-party antivirus or stateful firewall software installed on this machine? In an all-in-one setup like yours, the screen you’re encountering usually indicates that the local loopback address is restricted due to firewall settings.
If you have a reliable Backup of your database available, then you can try re-installing the server component fully.
I completely understand your instruction. I was traveling, which might account for the days not accessed. But I don’t download, only stream, so the database isn’t material to me. I can therefore perform this reinstall and see how it goes.
