Is Roon Server running?

· Yes, Roon Server is turned on and running.

What do you see on your screen?

· "Looking for your Roon Server"

Please try to restart your Roon Server by closing the Roon app in the taskbar or rebooting your Roon Server machine.

· No, the issue remains the same

Please try to restart your network setup by unplugging, waiting 30 seconds and then replugging in your networking gear.

Please select how you've connected your Roon Server to the internet

· Roon Server is connected by *WiFi*

Have you checked your firewall settings to ensure that Roon is allowed through?

· Roon still won't connect even after checking this aspect

Have you verified that Roon Server is on the same subnet as your Remotes?

· My Remotes and Server are on the same subnet and I still can't connect

Sometimes the issues can be resolved with a reinstall of your Roon Remote app. Let's try to perform a reinstall and see if it helps.

· I've reinstalled the Roon Remote but it did not help

What is the operating system of your Roon Server host machine?

Describe the issue

I'm running my Roon server on a MacBook Pro 6-core i9 wired into a Orbi 7 mesh wi-fi satellite. I just ripped 600+ CDs using iTunes as ALAC and connected the Roon folder to the Musing folder on the computer. I have turned off all the power saving settings and it's always on. However lately the Roon server just disappears and reappears after a few minutes. Is this normal behavior? Next, I'm connecting the laptop to my McIntosh MCD85 (CD/SACD player) using the USB connection for best quality. You don't have the updated McIntosh system and images for your UI. Finally, on the iPhone app the Play and Pause button in the bottom left corner is unfortunately placed where it's easily touched by holding the phone in your left hand. The base of the thumb/palm seems to touch the button there. Could it be possible for you to consider moving the play/pause functionality to the right side instead next to the other icons?

You would be better off posting separate support requests for each issue. In fact your last two issues, the McIntosh images and the Play/Pause button placement, would be better off in Feedback since it is not a problem that can be rectified by other users or the support team.

With regard to the intermitted disconnection issue, it is not recommended to have a WiFi link between your Roon Server and your Router. See:

You would be better to try to connect your Roon Server directly to your router (or indirectly via a network switch) using wired ethernet. Having said that, with the MacBook running Roon Server being connected to the McIntosh I appreciate that you may not have much choice short of running a long ethernet cable around your home.

Hi @anders1,

Let’s start with connectivity, since that underpins RoonServer’s ability to reach Roon Remotes, and thus Roon Remotes’ ability to control any changes to RoonServer.

If your Macbook is wired into a satellite node, then there are three vulnerabilities we’ll need to address:

  1. WiFi interference in the WiFi connection between node and main router
  2. WIFi interference between Roon Remotes and other nodes
  3. The possibility that mesh nodes aren’t forwarding multicast traffic correctly for Roon to function on a wireless network

Let’s eliminate 1 and 2 by hardwiring the Macbook directly to the main router for testing.

You’ll want to target issue 3 above my enabling multicast and IGMP snooping in the Orbi mesh settings.
