Description of Issue

This has been happening for many months. See my previous posts.

Music randomly stops about every hour or two regardless of which endpoint I’m listening to. I typically control music on an iPad and stream to Chord Poly or iFi Zen Stream. The music will stop and the iPod Roon display goes blank and indicates “looking for Roon Core” or something like that. Within 10-15 seconds, the iPad shows Roon interface again, but music does not auto-resume.

The Mac console on the server has a crash report for each time this happens:

In my mind, this is NOT a stable system. Thoughts?

Still happening many times a day.

Hey @Eric_Olson1,

I’m sorry to hear you’re still experiencing such frequent crashing on your Mac core. Please know that this issue is still marked as a high priority, and that our team is working on a solution.

Here is the tracking thread:

I will certainly keep you in the loop on any updates I receive. :+1:

This has been happening for what, 6-8 months now? The system is not working as advertised for a significant number of users. We are being billed as if it were working. Please be more open about where you are with this problem. I you can’t make the “Mac as Server” topology work, just come out and say it. A music server/streamer that randomly crashes 5-10 times a day sucks, no matter how good the features are.

Hey @Eric_Olson1,

I empathize with your frustration here, it’s certainly been a long-standing issue for us.

It isn’t so much about making the topology work, there is a specific issue with using a Mac with newer versions of Ventura as a core device.

I, unfortunately, don’t have any updates to share. It is still marked with high priority, and we’re still investigating specific causes around the issue.
