Description of Issue

Hi guys!

I’m setting up my home server on Ubuntu Server 22.04.3. Just installed the system and Roon Server, following the manual form website. Roon on my PC sees the Roon Server app running and I can select it as an output device.

My issue is, that I want to set up my Linux Server to be the main core. Well, I can’t find ANY manual for that…

How do I connect to the Roon Server running on my Ubuntu Server, so I can log in and set up?

Have you been using your PC as a Roon server? If that is the case, you need to disconnect from that Roon server instance first. Here’s a walk through with my own setup (where I’m using a Mac instead of a PC):

  1. Before all, do you want to preserve the Roon library from your PC? If so, make sure you ask Roon to make a fresh backup onto a place that your Ubuntu server can see.
  2. In Settings>General>Roon Server, click “Disconnect”. You’ll get a screen that offers “Choose your Roon Server”. Select your new server (the one on Ubuntu) there.
  3. Click “Connect”
  4. You may get a screen asking you to dis-authorize a previous server (your PC)
  5. Assuming that all goes through, you’ll need to configure Settings>Storage to point to where your local music is.
  6. Restore your library backup via Settings>Backups

I hope this helps.

That did it! Silly me. Thanks a lot!
