Hi @Graham_Berks,

If you are using the same machine on which you’ve installed RoonServer to control RoonServer, then you also have a GUI (Roon) installed alongside the server. This all-in-one setup is common for users with MacOS or Windows machines.

Please share a screenshot of what you’re encountering in Roon so we can clarify whether or not this GUI is connecting to the proper RoonServer instance.

Literally nothing has changed on the machine bar upgrading to 15.7 the other day. First upgrade to Roon gives this image.

I’ve given up and started again. See other thread. This is way too painful.

Hi @Graham_Berks,

Thanks for the follow-up! We’ve seen a handful of new issues pop-up with the new macOS Tahoe update, I’m sorry to hear you’re also experiencing issues.

To confirm, what is your current status? We’re seeing a few instances of Roon Server across multiple machines, can you specify which machine is your typical server?

If you select the ‘Select a different Roon Server’ option, does your proper Mac appear?

We’ve also seen a few reports of success by enabling ‘Open using Rosetta’ as a temporary workaround. You can access this setting by right-clicking ‘Get Info’ on the Roon app icon:

Let me know if any of the above help, thank you! :folded_hands:

I’m not on Tahoe. 15.7 is the latest Sequoia. My server is an M4 Mac mini.

You have my apologies, @Graham_Berks - I see the majority of your devices are indeed running 15.7.

Since that is the case, let’s see if adjusting the local network settings on the server machine may help.

macOS Sequoia (version 15), has tighter (and more obfuscated) network security settings than preceding MacOS versions.

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon and Roon Server are allowed.

If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists. Thank you!

Yes tried that thanks.

Use todo that after every release until recently.

Tried it didn’t work. Even tried with off then a reboot with no change

Good day @Graham_Berks !

Can you please try to to run your Roon Server app Explicitly ?

In order to do so please go to Applications folder (Cmd + Shift + A) and find Roon App.

Click with right mouse click on it and go for “Show package Contents”.

From there you should be able to see RoonServer App, please run it.

Also, did you see before Roon Logo on the menu bar or it was not there when you tried to run Roon lately ?

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards.

Hi @Graham_Berks,

Our diagnostics servers show that the RoonServer instance was recently online, and that the Roon client (remote) on the same machine was online at some point in the last few hours as well.

First off, were you able to successfully launch the Roon app at this point on Tahoe per the steps above?

After launching, did you see the local RoonServer instance available in Roon?

Please let us know the current status of your crashing and connectivity issues and we’ll proceed from there with next steps.

The team has a fix in the pipeline for Roon remote crashes and remote connection issues affecting MacOS Tahoe. The workarounds we’ve provided above will hopefully patch your setup for now, but rest assured a more thorough fix will soon be released.

Thanks again for your patience.

Hi, I restored a backup - so am backup and running. I kept the previous state in the library so could put it back if it’s helpful ?

Hey @Graham_Berks,

Glad to hear restoring a backup helped! No need to revert at this point - you shouldn’t run into this issue again.

Happy listening! :raising_hands:

This is a continuation of a topic…

… that is now closed and I can’t reopen.

I have updated the Roon software again and had the same problem.

This time I did what was mentioned in the thread and started RoonServer from the command line.

My Roon app / ui then springs into life and works.

Should note that when I updated Roon I then rebooted my Mac Mini. Upon start and login Roon had already crashed with a macOS system dialog.

What logs can I give you to diagnose this ? As obvisously starting RoonServer from the command line isn’t great

I’m on Sequoia 15.7.1

Thanks

Hi, is there anyone from support around ?

Thanks

Just upgraded to 15.7.2 (24G325) and Roon starts correctly.

The fix ?

Hi @Graham_Berks,

There were incremental security improvements with the MacOS 15.7.2 point release from Apple.

It looks like all your Roon devices (with the exception of one MacBook) are reporting the latest Roon build.

Are you having any issues connecting to the server on your Mac Mini at this point?

Is for the moment - will pop back if happens again. Thanks.
