Describe the issue
Roon continues to skip specific tracks on Qobuz.
Ex: "All Melody" on Nils Frahm album "All Melody"
This has been an ongoing issue for months (maybe close to a year now). Track streams fine from Qobuz app, so this is a Roon-Qobuz integration issue. It seems we are way way past a reasonable time for Roon/Qobuz to fix this issue.
Welcome to the forum! We tried this album on our end, and it played without issue. We also enabled diagnostics for your account, and we’re seeing a timeout in the logging when you try to play it, which points to the zone itself or something about the connection as the likely factor.
Can you confirm whether the same issue happens across multiple zones? We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let us know if it helps? Thanks!
We recognize this is incredibly frustrating. The reality here is that you are experiencing an error between Qobuz and the content delivery network that serves their API for certain regions, Akamai. This error manifests within Roon, but we have no control over the machinery involved.
The CDN is delivering bytes that don’t contain any actual data. We’ve patched Roon to permit these tracks to fail with an error rather than arrest indefinitely without ever playing. This at least allows playback to continue to the next item without intervention in most cases.
A resolution will need to come from Qobuz and Akamai. Their team is aware of the gravity of the issue and we’re in direct contact with them to assist with their investigation.
We will share any updates from their team in the main tracking thread here. Please share your thoughts there if you feel the need or desire to contribute or vent, but recognize that Roon itself, as an organization, can only help indirectly here as we assist our partner organizations.
