Description Of Issue
Continuing problems, some new details.
Roon logged in to Tidal.

I search for “strange timez”. Perhaps a minute later Roon finally returns a result.

I run tidal on the same system, same search, Tidal instantly returns the track I’m looking for.

Nothing interesting in the roon log:

Hi @Peter_Galvin1,

How often do you see this type of slowness? Does it happen for every search?

Can you please provide some additional details on your network specifics?

I’d say on average every day “something” does wrong" in roon.

  • Can’t reach tidal
  • Skips tracks, saying it can’t load them
  • Crashes
I find restarting it helps, but doesn’t always temporarily solve the problem.

I usually have my imac connected to my Orbi wifi network (for things like wifi calling), as well as wired at 1Gb to linksys switch, which connects to my netgear router to the xfinity internet.
I’ve tried just using wifi, or just using ether, and still had problems.

In general my imac and network are very happy. I can just run tidal to play tracks for example when roon is saying it can’t reach tidal.
I assume you don’t implement your own network stack, buy maybe you do (to get RAAT to work well) and perhaps my config tickles something in your network implementation that the rest of the components are perfectly happy with.

One thing that’s obvious is that roon talks to the network all of the time.
I play a track I ripped to itunes, via roon, and it complains it can’t reach tidal. Or skips the track without a reason. Playing the track should have priority, whether roon can or can’t get info it wants from the network etc.

Next I’ll try logging out of tidal within roon and see if that makes it any happier.
