Roon Software is Buggy

After over five years of using Roon I must say . . . its advantages barely outweigh the endless frustration I’ve experienced. It seems that just as soon as I’ve overcome one bug or shortcoming, another one pops up. I spend a fair bit of time screaming at the Core when it’s not working right (or at all).

After mostly curing endless streaming interruptions and skipped tracks by turning off nearly all of the silly processing that was going on in the background, now I’m finding that my queue is randomly disappearing. Music will be streaming per the queue I set up but the Roon Core displays “Nothing playing.”

There is really no excuse for fundamental functional bugs in such mature software. I find it deeply disappointing and truly annoying, to the extent that I have stopped recommending Roon. I’ve spent so much time curating my Library that I feel like I’m stuck with it - warts and all.

Title edited, I’m sure you can figure out why.
Thank you for your cooperation.

To be fair, as a bystander here I have to say that my interactions with the Technical Support team have been equally (if not more) frustrating. It generally ends up being that the issue gets acknowledged and the thread is closed without any real commitment to resolving it. Years later, issues that fundamentally discourage me from taking advantage of my lifetime license are still unresolved.

Edit: For what it’s worth I’ve moved on to a new solution because of the issues I’ve experienced with Roon. It’s an iPhone/iPad app called Albums. While it is reliant on an Apple Music subscription, the user experience and feature set produced by this single developer is far more impressive than what I’ve experienced with Roon. Perhaps best of all, several issues that I’ve reported have been triaged and fixed with impressive efficiency (sometimes on the same day). Ultimately it has made dropping Roon, with the numerous compromises I have to live with when using it, a no brainer.
