· I am streaming Roon via a Lumin T2 connected to an McIntosh Mx 122 via XLR. When streaming Roon, my MX 122 randomly changes sources and or turns itself off.

· Xfinity XB8 Gateway, to a switch. Separate Switch port to Lumin, Mx 122, Roon Nucleus.
Based on your description, this doesn’t currently point to a Roon-side issue. Roon itself has no mechanism to send power, standby, or input-switch commands to an AVR or processor — especially when the audio path is analog XLR from the Lumin T2 to the MX122.
A few important points to highlight:
Roon → Lumin T2 → XLR → MX122
Over XLR, Roon can only influence the audio stream, not source selection or power state on the McIntosh.
Random source switching / shutdown is usually caused by:
HDMI-CEC or control signals from another connected HDMI device
Control/IP commands on the local network
Internal protection or automation logic on the MX122
A firmware or hardware issue on the MX122 itself
To narrow this down, we’d recommend checking (if not already done):
Temporarily disable HDMI-CEC / control features on the MX122 and any connected HDMI devices
Test whether the behavior occurs when playing a non-Roon source for an extended period
Confirm whether the MX122 is configured for any network or automation control that could trigger source or power changes
At this stage, the symptoms are most consistent with downstream device behavior, rather than anything initiated by Roon or the Nucleus.
If you notice anything that directly ties the behavior to a specific Roon action or timestamp, feel free to share it — but for now, this looks outside Roon’s control path.
Thank you for reaching out. I finally solved this issue using Chatgpt. My Sony TV kept taking control and switching the MX 122 to TV audio. I disabled certain parts of the software in the TV and then in MX 122, and now all is fine. Roon is acquitted.
