Hi, a week ago I reported that my Roon could open but not play music. Since a few days I can not open Roon at all and all I see is 'Snapshotting database for backup' and it is taking >50 hours already ... I can not listen to music for too long already, help!

Describe your network setup

Ziggo fiber network, Ziggo Modem, tp-link Deco M4R router. Roon is running on my MacMini on I am writing this message on the same MacMini. Internet is working but Roon is not connecting.

Thanks for writing in! Sorry to hear you’re having issues backing up. Before anything else, do you have a recent backup available? If so, refreshing your Roon server database may be helpful here. Steps to follow below:

Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
