Roon Tidal Database and New Releases

New Megadeth wasn’t on Roon until about midday even though I had added it on Qobuz. Later on it was in their Roon discog but only in the “more from Megadeth” section, and still didn’t know that I had it added on Qobuz (which I always thought was a rock solid data link).

Interested to find out what happens tomorrow - the latest update mentions some much needed improvements for TIDAL and a quick glance after update does at least show that new albums are actually new, not from August last year.

Whether this improves the issue with Friday releases we shall see (Qobuz via Roon was tardy too when I used that previously but I felt that TIDAL has been worse).

I’m not holding my breath that it will make any difference since it’s not specifically mentioned.

FYI, it’s now in the main albums section.

As I suspected, no change in handling of new releases from Tidal. The new Kelly Moran album ‘Don’t Trust Mirrors’ is there on Tidal this morning but not yet available on Roon.

Yep, new Mostly Autumn and Bruce Springsteen still AWOL

Kelly Moran album appears now. Often seems to be around lunchtime in UK.

Springsteen and Mostly Autumn on Qobuz are still AWOL on Roon. Springsteen was released on Wednesday.

Still not here. It is Saturday. Bruce has been out for 3 days.

I had to delete and re-add these albums in Qobuz. Then they appeared. But without doing this, it looks like Roon would have forever ignored their presence in the Qobuz library (the server had been restarted and manually synchronised with Qobuz several times). Which is not reassuring, to put it one way.

Hmmm… It’s there and has been for me…

I think it is a meta data issue, since the song is showing up as titled “Bruce Springsteen”. Try what I did, go to the Artist, Discography, Singles section and scroll down to the latest.

Yes but I had already added it in Qobuz (on Thursday). It was not showing up in my library despite being added on Qobuz, and likely never would have. Roon was not checking what had been added on Qobuz in the past, as if it didn’t matter; it was assuming it had everything and was only checking for new adds, not old ones that were missing. This is a hole in the sync logic. If the user doesn’t delete it and add it again (creating a new “add” to synchronise), it would not show up.

The same was the case for the new Mostly Autumn, and the new Megadeth last week.

Another Friday morning where I can’t listen to new releases on Roon. Amongst those missing are the new Mandy, Indiana album ‘URGH’ and Daphni’s ‘Butterfly’.

I came here specifically to see if you were also looking for the same as me. “Mandy, Indiana” was mine too. Seems like midday did the trick but still settling down; listening now even though it has reverted to “This album was not found”. I can live with midday if it is consistent, I can always use the TIDAL app in the morning, which is exactly what I did. It’s when it gets well into the weekend that it irks me most.

I see Daphni’s album is there too - I have added to my playlist (not heard before). Even if Roon doesn’t speed up the new releases, I’m getting a few new artist tips - thanks!

What I do when I come into work on Friday mornings is open Tidal and add all of the new albums that I want to listen to that came out that morning. Usually within an hour they all sync up with Roon and are available in my collection and I can listen to them. Been doing this for a few years, it worked when I had Qobuz too.

Daphni is Dan Snaith aka Caribou who actually started his recording career under the name Manitoba.

Missing today. The new Olafur Arnalds compilation ‘like gravity’ which accompanies his documentary short film of the same name. Was pleased to see (on Tidal) that Particles (Island Songs IV) opens the album as I find this track incredibly soothing.

3pm in the UK and this album still isn’t showing which is worse than normal.

It’s almost lunchtime in the UK but Roon is still missing today’s new releases from Apparat and Blanck Mass. No doubt countless other too.

Hi Jon. We rolled out our daily metadata over an hour ago.

A Hum of Maybe is available on TIDAL – how are you looking for it?

Crime 101 metadata were not provided to us by TIDAL in time for today’s release.

I’m looking in the Apparat discography on Roon. It still does not appear there for me as an album only the single which was released a few weeks ago.

I can now access the album on Roon but only from the artist page where the track ‘Hum Of Maybe’ is listed as a popular track. If I click on that track it takes me to the album.

When I search for ‘Hum Of Maybe’ it returns what it says is an album but when I click on the search result it takes me to the single !!

I think this highlights part of the problem with new releases. Data seems to be populated in different places causing a lot of inconsistency.
