Roon times out when playing/queuing Tidal long tracks

Hello All,

I have Allo USBridge with Dietpi running roon bridge. Mac Mini is roon server. Mac Mini and USBridge plugged into same switch. The issue I am experiencing is with streaming Tidal tracks/albums. No issues playing anything in local library. For example… when playing Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters album, it starts first track that is over 15 minutes long and 99% of the time it will timeout when trying to start the track (logs below). I can sometimes get it to play by fast forwarding it a little when it is trying to start. Is there any way to increase the 10000ms timeout value? I don’t mind waiting. It’s more important that it works than how long something takes to load/play.

My previous setup was Mac Mini direct to USB dac. This is flawless… never any Tidal streaming issues, I was just trying to use the USBridge to improve SQ.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks…

Hi @chewdoc,

So we can better assist you, please describe your network configuration/topology, including any networking hardware currently in use, so we can have a clear understanding of how your devices are communicating.

In the past we’ve seen TIDAL performance improved by using Google DNS — Can you give this a try and let me know how it works for you?

Thank you for your response.

Internet <- Fios Quantum Gateway (router) <- Netgear R7000 in AP Mode (uplink to Fios router in WAN port) <- direct hard wired Mac Mini and Allo USBridge

I have set the Google DNS servers (primary/secondary) on the Fios router. Mac Mini and USBridge dhcp from Fios router and each have the Fios router as their DNS. Setting Fios router to use Google DNS did not resolve the issue.

Can I simply increase the 10000ms Roon timeout value? If so, how?

Hi @chewdoc,

Can you confirm if this same behavior occurs when you play to System Output of your Core machine (or a remote device)?

Thanks!
