Roon unable to use Focusrite ASIO Audio Zone. Whenever it is selected, all audio devices connected to the computer begin ‘Flapping’. This only happens when Focusrite USB ASIO is selected.
Yes - USB is connected and the drivers are the latest version.
What’ll happen is that if it’s plugged in, it’ll have three options of connecting: USB ASIO, Thunderbolt ASIO, & USB WASAPI.
If I select USB WASAPI, it connects and plays, but doesn’t change the bitrate of the Scarlet to match the song. Thunderbolt ASIO doesn’t connect at all (which makes sense as there’s no Thunderbolt connection).
The odd one is USB ASIO - I’ve previously had this up and connecting and it works exactly as it should. But now if I select it as the Audio Zone, all options will disappear, and it starts briefly flickering with the options every 5 seconds, only to disappear again in an instant. (EDIT: I’ve since learnt that this is called ‘Flapping’)
This stops if I have the Scarlet disconnected, in which case the options stay up, but cannot be used (for obvious reasons). As soon as I plug it back in, they start disappearing and flickering again.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and Roon multiple times. I’ve been able to get it working briefly (of which I don’t know how), but it goes back to flickering if I restart Roon.
I have no earthly idea how or why this is happening.
UPDATE: I have done a full system reset and Roon seems to be happy with the USB ASIO connection now. For future viewers, I unfortunately can’t offer more of a suggestion than that.
