Hey @Dave_Davies,
Thanks so much for reaching out, and I’m really sorry you’ve run into this. It’s genuinely frustrating to have software you rely on suddenly stop working, especially when your hardware is otherwise perfectly fine.
As @DrTone has shared, this latest release raises Roon’s minimum system requirements, and unfortunately, macOS 10.15 Catalina is no longer supported going forward. I completely understand that’s not the news you were hoping for.
A few options that might help you continue enjoying Roon:
1. Upgrade macOS — If your Mac hardware supports it, upgrading to macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later would get you back up and running. You can check Apple’s compatibility list to see if your machine qualifies.
2. Run Roon Server via Docker — If a macOS upgrade isn’t possible on your machine, Roon Server can now be run via Docker on some systems. It’s a bit more technical to set up, but it’s specifically designed to help users in situations like yours. The announcement thread has more details.
3. Dedicated Roon Server on another device — If you have a NAS, Raspberry Pi, or another machine that meets the new requirements, you could run the server there and use your Mac simply as a Roon Remote (the Remote app has lower system requirements).
Again, I’m sorry this has put you in a difficult spot. Please don’t hesitate to reply here with more details about your setup and we’ll do our best to help find a path forward.
