I run Roon on a QNAP TS473.NAS
I downloaded ROON from the QNAP app store put all my music ( flac ) on the ssd and that was it. My endpoint is Rpi3b with Allo digi1 into a Naim Unitiqute2 and Meridian M100 active speakers. I am very happy.
The whole process was very simple.
