Roon won't detect Bluesound Node 2i as RoonReady just Airplay

I have a couple of APs but the devices with the problem (Bluesound Node 2i) are wired, wifi is not enabled on them.

Description of Issue

I have two Bluesound Node 2i devices that are not detected by Roon as Roon Ready devices, they only show as Airplay devices.

They were working fine. Then, I had a problem with HomeKit (airplay wasn’t working on them) and had to factory reset both of my Node 2i. After the factory reset, my problem with HomeKit was solved. Then I tried playing music trough Roon but they would only show as Airplay devices in the Other Network Devices section.

My Nucleus+ (192.168.50.11) and both Node 2i (192.168.50.55 and 192.168.50.226) are connected via ethernet with the same IP address as before. No network connection or configuration was changed.

In the BluOs Controller App they are detected and work great.

I have updated all devices, rebooted the Nucleus+, rebooted both of the Node 2i devices. I have enabled Multicast DNS in my router network settings, but the problem persists.

There’s a known issue with bluesound after a factory reset. They have released a .49 update for the latest node and powernode, I’d contact bluesound and ask when 2i is coming out.

SOLUTION.

For anyone with the same problem, this is what resolved the problem:

  • Raised a suport ticket at Bluesound.
  • They replied and asked to connect to my Players remotely using our Linkup command.
  • My units were tagged for downgrade.
  • I proceeded to re-upgrade my Nodes to the latest firmware.
  • After the upgrade process was completed, I opened Roon and voila… they were showing as Roon Ready Devices just like before.
