Describe the issue

Roon zone grouping delay option not showing

Describe your network setup

Yamaha

I am wanting to adjust the sync on one of my zones, but I can’t seem to find the zone grouping delay option.

Am I looking in the wrong place? Any suggestions appreciated.

You are looking in the right place in principle, i.e., in the device settings under Advanced, but Zone Grouping Delay is not available for all types of streaming. I don’t know what your Yamaha is using, but e.g. it seems that it doesn’t exist for Airplay, see,

(Same in other existing discussions about AirPlay and zone grouping delay)

I suppose this limitation might be somewhat related to the explanation given here for why MUSE isn’t possible in certain zone groupings, either:

Thanks for the information and insight.

Yamaha is using Airplay 2

The other two zones nearby are using Yamaha WXA-50 amps, and they are perfectly synced to each other.

All zones have been measured with the excellent Housecurve app and the convolution filter applied.

Network is cabled.

I guess it’s a limitation that has to be lived with for now.

I do wonder if there is an option to adjust sync directly in the Yamaha app, and if that would have any effect.

Or, if Roon could make a Filter that can be added after the convolution filter that has a sole purpose of adding a sync delay to the device.

Hi @Ben_Ruffell,
Sorry—Roon doesn’t currently have the option you’re looking for. That said, we encourage you to post your idea in Feature Suggestions. Our product team regularly monitors that section to help guide future development.
