RoonOS reports server isn't running despite it being active [Ticket In] (ref#OQAJ97)

Just to be clear, I am able to use Roon, so the server is obviously running - this is just an issue with Web UI for Rock

Same problem here after installing new software update.

Roon in container mode on my Synology 720+ server indicates a problem with Roon after the recent update. Restarting the container doesn’t or the project does not help, system is running well though.

If you experience the problem from this thread, then it IS working. The only issue here is that the web UI of ROCK/Nucleus shows „not running“ for the server although it’s actually running and works.

If you don’t have ROCK/Nucleus or if your server isn’t running and Roon therefore isn’t working, then you don’t have the same problem this thread is about. In this case, open a separate tech support case: Support > Get Help

I also have the server not running issue with ROCK.
After rebooting / repowering everything in my network, I noticed that the server not running message was still present.
Everything was working fine though, EXCEPT my Auralic endpoint, which was not seen by Roon.
So I did a deep dive in the Auralic settings, and found that the connection had changed from wired to wireless, although I never changed this.
After switching the Auralic setting back to wired, Roon saw the Auralic again.
I am reporting this because it might have a relation with the server not running, although at first sight these issues seem to be completely unrelated.
But you never know…

Is this correct?

Docker users, including myself, are experiencing issues caused by Roon’s container failing Docker’s health check. This is (minimally) causing some of us to get health alerts (and have related log/alerting issues).

Is it understood if the root cause of the Docker issue is the same as the RoonOS issue?

It may have a related cause, I don’t know, but the title of this thread is „RoonOS reports server isn’t running despite it being active“, so anything that’s not running RoonOS is not the same.

I’m asking if the issues have the same root cause. There’s an earlier post in this thread about Synology. Someone also created a github issue on the official docker project with some additional info: RoonServer.dll docker health check failing? · Issue #28 · RoonLabs/roon-docker · GitHub

If it’s the same root cause, we don’t need another thread. If it isn’t, we do. So rather than create a housekeeping issue by standing up a new thread, I think we should wait for @Stephen or @benjamin or someone else to clarify whether or not it’s one issue or multiple issues.

Please report your issues via the standard: Support > Get Help process. The tech team will merge threads if there are common causes, but first they need to see the details in the requests. Thank you.

At a quick glance, I’m pretty sure it is the same issue. The root cause on this was that I improved some of our build/packaging steps with newer dotnet approaches and it resulting in renaming the final assemblies. This ended up tripping up any system/service that depended on the exact file name.

Thanks, @Stephen. This makes sense. I appreciate the response!

Roon Rock 2.71, just installed, in addition to telling controller is not running shows

Not Running on the web ui home page.

In reality, the server is running and happily playing Led Zeppelin eponymous LP.

Known issue, it’s only that the status display in the web UI is wrong when saying „not running“.
