Description of Issue
Roon’s CPU utilization is consistently high (around 42%), even when the app is idle and not playing music. Since I rebooted the Mac 13 hours ago, Roon has used 11 hours of CPU time.
I found a number of threads where Roon users noticed high CPU utilization, but I could not find one in which there was either an explanation or solution. It just doesn’t make sense to me that Roon is using so much processor, even when it’s not playing any music. It seems as if the application is either polling something or reading the database. I notice this even if I turn off WiFi.
Thanks for taking the time to write in, and my apologies for the delay here. Following up on your thread, we were able to review a fresh core diagnostic from your Mac.
We’re seeing quite a few network-based UPnP errors in the report. As a next step, it may be good to review any IGMP Snooping / Multicast settings on your router. Test out disabling any features related to this.
If your issue persists after the above, I’m also seeing quite a few traces related to your Tidal library. As a follow up step, I would make a fresh backup, and then test out disabling your Tidal account. If that doesn’t do much, try cleaning up your library with Tidal disabled (this will remove all your Tidal tracks from your Roon account.)
Let me know how things run after the above. I’ll be on standby for your reply.
