I'm hoping this can be escalated to engineering, as I've spent several hours troubleshooting and have isolated the issue as much as I can.
**System**
- Roon 2.71 (Build 1680)
- macOS Monterey 12.7.6 (21H1320)
- Late 2014 Mac mini
- Intel Core i5-4278U @ 2.60 GHz
- 16 GB RAM
- Dedicated, headless Roon Core (logged in 24/7)
## Problem
·
This has happened multiple times after Roon updates.
After updating, all Roon Remotes lose connection because the server is no longer running. Reinstalling Roon does not resolve the issue.
Running RoonServer directly from Terminal immediately exits with:

## Troubleshooting completed
·
- Rebooted the Mac.
- Ran Disk Utility First Aid (no errors).
- Completely removed and reinstalled the latest version of Roon.
- Verified the application bundle is properly code signed (`codesign --verify --deep --verbose` passes).
- Verified the executable is a valid universal (Intel/Apple Silicon) binary.
- Confirmed the CPU supports AVX2 and other required instruction sets.
- Created a **brand-new macOS administrator account**.
- Installed a completely fresh copy of Roon under the new account.
- The same behavior occurs even with no existing Roon database or settings.
## Additional observations

Before the update, the server was operating normally.
The Roon logs show the update completed successfully (`update.sh exited with 0` and `Update installed: 2.71 (build 1680)`), but after the update the server will no longer start.
macOS generates a crash report every time RoonServer is launched.
## Questions

1. Is this a known compatibility issue with macOS Monterey 12.7.6 or the Late 2014 Intel Mac mini?
2. Can you provide a known-working production build for Monterey if this is a regression?
3. Please let me know if you'd like the macOS `.ips` crash report or any additional diagnostics—I have them available.
One additional concern: I have a large, carefully curated Roon library, and I'd appreciate confirmation that my existing database is still intact and guidance on the safest recovery path before I make any further changes.

I use TimeMachine so I could roll back the app to weeks ago.
Same here, but after some tries my roon server is on. What i did? Don’t know, but worked. In Roon folder with Roon app opened, run roon server.exec in mac folder, and in roon server folder run roon appliance.exec, but if i restart this roon server i need to do all again. Waiting to fix this issue…

It’s terrible indeed. After updating to the latest one 2.71, Roon can’t start on Mac OS Monterey 12.7.6. Even trying to install 2.71 manually, the situation is same. Please immediately release a bug-fix or give us a way to install previous version 2.7. It’s inconvenient indeed!!

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· My Roon server is installed on an iMac (macOS 13.7.8) for years and it run smoothly.
Yesterday I got prompted to install an update and I did.
Once the App restarted, it can no longer start the server.
Every time I press the button to Start Roon Server, it loads a while and get back to the same screen.
I tried to restart iMac and downloaded the latest dmg for re-installation but it does not help.

· My router is Amplifi Alien mesh. There is no VPN configured and firewall on macOS is disabled

Is Roon Server running?
· No, Roon Server is not running.
For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.
· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.

I have additional diagnostic information for my open ticket.
System:
2016 Intel Mac mini
macOS Monterey 12.7.6
Roon version 2.71 (build 1680)
Previous version 2.70 (build 1671) was working correctly
The Roon database and logs are still present:
~/Library/RoonServer
The Roon Server executable exists at:
/Applications/Roon.app/Contents/RoonServer.app/Contents/MacOS/RoonServer
When I launch RoonServer directly from Terminal, it starts briefly and then crashes with:
Illegal instruction: 4
The exact Terminal output is:

Activity Monitor does not show a running RoonServer process after the crash.
The Roon update log indicates the update to build 1680 completed successfully.
This appears to be a startup crash in the RoonServer executable after the 2.71 update rather than a database or network issue.
Please let me know if you need any additional logs or diagnostic files.
