rooUPnP - benefits?

I currently have a Raspberry Pi running Roopiee to bridge from Roon to UPnP on my old Naim UnitiQute. Is there any benefit in replacing this with rooUPnP? With rooUPnP do I get track titles shown on the UnitiQute?

I believe both use the same underlying source squeeze2upnp - neither will provide metadata from ROON.

I came from a Sonore UPnP Bridge running on a Sonore ultraRendu for my Naim NDS, and donā€™t have any experience with Roopiee on a Pi.

However, FWIW, I really love that rooUPnP is an official Roon extension which is configurable within Roon Remote itself (under Settings | Extensions).

Looks like Iā€™ll have to consider a display for the Raspberry Pi then :slight_smile:

I too run SonoreUPnP into my NDS for Roon based playback.
There is no Artist, Album or Track information in the UPnP feed to the renderer.

I have the screen on the NDS to only come on for the very briefest of moments, literally to see that it has gone from the default ā€˜library treeā€™ from Asset UPnP as the default music server, to the feed from the SonoreUPnP bridge, so there is a feed about to start playing on the NDS.

For Artist, Album, Track metadata I use ā€˜Roon Displayā€™ in a web browser session on an old iPad Mini 2, set in Guided Access mode, so dedicated as a Roon display.

Bigger & better screen that on the ND555 :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

So do you have your iPad Mini set up so it always opens in Safari and goes to the particular Roon display Safari?

Yes, the iPad Mini is set and powered up, with the Roon URL as a dedicated view on a shortcut. The Guided access means that no other function can be used while in this mode.
This dedicates the device to the role of playback display, which is on 24/7 and ready to display.
