I happen to have one of the new Raspberry Pi Display 2 (720 x 1280). I was wondering if Ropiee might support this in the future? As an experiment I flashed a new micro SD card and attempted to setup a RPi-4 with the Display 2 attached. But Ropiee didn’t detect the display at all (stayed blank during the intial install & setup).
I don’t have the device, so for now there are no plans.
Some people reached out, so here’s what I can/am willing to do:
If a few people take care of the costs of the display I’ll order one. However, no promises wrt timelines etc. It’s important for me that RoPieee feels like ‘hobby’ and not ‘work’.
Is the new display the same physical form factor as the previous one? Will it fit in older cases?
OK. Here in the US Adafruit is selling the display for $60. So, I just donated $20 to Harry. Hopefully some of the other members here will kick in the rest.

Here’s the link to Adafruit. They have all of the specs there.
Display 2
I’ll kick in $20 too for a DIsplay 2 for Harry. Plus another beer when I am next in NL (I think I owe Harry 6-8 very nice meals + sufficient drink at this point).
Okay, I kicked in the last $20. I don’t have a new display but i expect I’ll probably get one if Spockfish makes it work.
And, BTW Spockfish, given all the time you spend on this forum I’m glad you can still see this as a hobby. I suspect at times it seems suspiciously like work.
I kicked in another $20 because I love Roon/Ropiee and I appreciate the effort to look in to making the new display work. Thank you, spockfish!!
Hopefully this is enough incentive for Harry
I just chipped in some more.
Sorry about the delay to actually execute – done now. Added a bit of interest for the tardy payment.
Screen has been ordered!
But before you get (too) excited: this will take time, so don’t expect this in the next release
Thanks everyone!
Thanks Harry!
