Samsung Music Frame (Roon Tested?)

The Samsung Music Frame looks to be new? At least it’s new to me. One of the pictures says it’s “Roon Tested” which makes no sense as you’re not plugging this thing into a computer its expected to be used wirelessly so “Roon Ready” would be the appropriate certification?

It is nice to seen Roon placed on a new Samsung product though. For my $400 I think I’d rather use the Ikea wall speaker as it’s cheaper. I’m also really annoyed when they slap “Dolby Atmos” on something that doesn’t have much of a chance of reproducing stereo.

What you think? Who’s has one to tell us all about it? Apparently I’m super late to the party as this was announced at CES and started shipping start of summer.

Anywho… if I just missed this please merge post. I did a quick search and didn’t see this come up anywhere.

Roon tested can be applied to any connection that’s not Roon Ready. This can be network or hard connected. Airplay, Chromecast, Linn streaming, Sonos streaming, Kef streaming don’t hardwire and all Roon tested.

yeah, I realize that so it’s the AirPlay 2 that got it Roon Tested. Seems like they could have gone the little extra though. Disappointed for sure.

Yeah I brought it up at.one of the Saturday chats a long time ago.

Not sure the market for this type of thing is really that bothered about Roon or even knows what it is. Just because they own the company by proxy doesn’t mean they will incorporate their software in an all their products it’s just an expense and RnD not needed. Likely this was all designed well before the acquisition and has limited resources to run it. You add what sells a product not one that makes customers scratch their heads. Roon isn’t and never will be mass market product software.

So if it works with Roon does it display an album cover? That would be cool.

If you look at it; is not a screen, it is a speaker in a picture frame able to hold a printed picture.

It helps if one actually reads the description. Doh!
