Search for / handle unavailable library tracks [Implemented]

…streaming services probably just don’t expect us to actually ‘collect’ streamed music?

My issue is i am a Tidal customer and The Tidal app is playing the tracks/albums that are not awailable in the Roon app. This leads to track skipping in my Roon playlists.
This should be solved at programming level soo we do not need to waist time trying to micro manage this ourself.

In my case the playlist ive made within Roon starts skipping tracks after a while… …ive been a Tidal and Roon customer for a year.
Those tracks and the albums they belong to are then not playable within the Roon app, but my phone and computer can still play the tracks/albums from the Tidal app.
Yes i have a good wired connection… my rig works fine.
This should be solved at programming level… with autoupdate/rescan fix for links that are broken. Because micro managing this is time consuming and seldom works for me. … … with that i mean deleting unplayable tracks and reinstalling them into the playlists. (this sometimes work)

Well ive tried recanning several times as you suggested and it seems not to work forme. This was actually the first thing i found as a problem solver, when reading about the issue. But this should be an automatic thing continously going on in roon at programming level … rescan fix/ there should be a flag prosedure for tracks that skips and then Roon scanning activates and reconnect the broken link in some way automaticly.

well Jim i did get a recommendation from another person, and i did not see the date before you told me…
obviosly this issues are still not solved… and if you could be soo kind to point in the right direction instead of just asking why, … it would be awsome.

Interesting…

Description of Issue

For some reason which I think has to do with the version of an album available on Qobuz (not being Roon the root cause of the problem but Qobuz) I find time and time again albums marked as unavailable on my library.

Every single time, if I go to the versions tab I find another version of the same album that is available. I have to remove the unavailable one and add the other. It would be very helpful to have some ‘availability manager/repair tool’.

In any case, please let me know if there is a way to filter/list all the unavailable albums in ones library.

If not please consider deveoloping the search filter or the ‘repair tool’.

Thanks!

There seems to be a lot of discussions of unavailable tracks, but I didn’t find a feature suggestion to help identify unavailable tracks. I’d like to suggest Roon add a category to the My Tracks view for Available/Unavailable. Or a simple yes/no would work too. Every once in a while Qobuz will remove or replace an album that I’ve added to my library. When that happens, the tracks become unavailable and I don’t know it until Roon tries to play one. Usually that brings Roon to a halt. If I could periodically search my tracks for unavailable I could then make the necessary corrections. Seems like a simple fix for a relatively minor but persistent problem.

Seems to me Jamie was looking at a complicated solution for a simple problem. I don’t really need Roon to identify unavailable albums and automatically replace them with a suitable substitute. I would like Roon to add a focus function for unavailable tracks (the data is already there) and I can choose to delete the album or replace it if possible.

This was briefly discussed on the Qobuz feedback thread.

There are two layers to this. Qobuz themselves have an issue and here are various remedies they have started to introduce that partially address the issue with their native apps. But I don’t have the impression that roon/Qobuz are actively discussing integration remedies. It was hinted that Qobuz now had a “global_id” that can cluster available and unavailable releases. That sounds like that would be the basis of a solution but no doubt there is much more to it.

Again, bumping this thread as I just went to play my own ‘UK hits of 1972’ after noticing Qobuz had one but mostly from a US point of view (isn’t everything!) and hardly any of the tracks were available, all gone to that place in the sky tracks go when streaming services move them.

Just looked back through a Spotify playlist I haven’t played for a decade or more and well, all the tracks are there… is this a Qobuz thing or is it a Roon thing?

It is common for individual songs to become unavailable on streaming services. This means that these tracks are no longer available in the playlists that have been created. However, very often it is only a change of the album or version of the same album and for this reason you have to manually find the track again and replace it with the existing track in the playlist. It would be a good improvement of Roon if the replacement title would be suggested automatically.

There’s at least one thread open for this suggestion already.
Latest reply I found from Roon

And here the same for Qobuz including a discussion of how to transfer metadata edits from the unavailable album to the new one

And another post by me about this severe issue about metadata edits

@crowlem I wrote in the Qobuz thread linked above that I would tag you when I write a feature request. Haven’t gotten around to it, but I guess this one is close enough

Thanks for letting me know, voted.

Hopefully we can get this up high on the list.

@Alex_Reusch you should vote on your idea.

Just want to bump this again. I just noticed two of my Laila Biali albums were no longer available in Qobuz. So I checked versions and they each had a version available. I added the new versions and set them as primary. No problem. But it sure would be nice if Roon could provide a focus for tracks that are unavailable. I’m not sure why Qobuz removes albums to replace them with identical new albums, but Roon could make this curation process much easier.

Haven’t read every post, but I get the impression most people here have issues with complete albums becoming unavailable due to changes in the Qobuz catologue. Personally, my issue is mostly with specific tracks being unavailable. In every case there is not some other version on Qobuz, so it just is what it is. And that’s fine, but I just want to be able to filter my 86000+ Qobuz tracks on the status “Unavailable” so I can source the album from elsewhere.
