Description Of Issue

Roon has been up and running successfully for some time. Today when it opened it asked to Choose your Roon Core. Have powered off MacBook, Diskstation, Modem with no success. Also turned off and on the Roon Server.
On the Roon opening screen, it says the Diskstation is ready so I click on “Configure Roon OS device on your network”. That screen stays searching but cannot find it.

When I click go back to the Diskstation screen and press “Connect” it asks for my login details and then says to go back as I already have 1 core.

Have made no recent changes to the setup so not sure what the problem is.

I am experiencing the same issue, with a Synology DS1618+.
Yesterday evening I have updated the Synology DSM Software to DSM 6.2.4-25556, did not try to connect to Roon since then. As I tried to connect now for the first time after the DSM update, this is not possible.

@Paul_Johnston, you state that you did not make recent changes - could it be that your Synology device automatically installed this DSM version most recently? If so, was the connection to Roon possible until before the DSM update?

@crieke May I kindly reach out to you as well?
Your GitHub page shows fix reauthorization issue · crieke/RoonServer_Synology_Installer_DSM6@48db4ee · GitHub - could it be that there is a connection? How exactly did this reauthorization issue occur? For existing Roon installations, is any action from user side required, such as to re-install Roon?

Thank you in advance for a short feedback - with the upcoming weekend and no Roon available, it would be amazing if this situation could quickly be resolved.

Update:
I have found the thread Fix for recurring authorization prompt and this seemed to describe the same behavior. I have now downloaded the latest installer for Synology (x64) via https://roononnas.org/builds/Synology/RoonServer_Synology_x86_64_2021-03-08.spk , but after reinstallation and also a restart of the Diskstation, the issue persists.

Hi Thore
You are correct. There was an auto update from Synology the day before Roon stopped working. Latest version running is DSM 6.2.4-25556. Not sure how to proceed from here.

Hi @Paul_Johnston

If you click Unauthorize you’ll be able to continue using Roon like usual. Apologies for the confusion!

Hi @dylan
thank you, that helped - the approach is very unintuitive though.

Weekend saved for now. Enjoy yours!

Thanks Dylan
Whereabouts can I find the “Unauthorize” to click?

When opening Roon it immediately asks to “Choose Your Roon Core” with 3 options

  1. Connect to Diskstation
  2. Setup a Roon Core on the Mac
  3. Configure Roon OS devices on your network

In option 1 I have the ability to Restore a Backup.
Have tried Option 3 many times and no success.

Have not seen an Unauthorised prompt anywhere

Hi Dylan

Found it.

Am back up and running.

Thanks for your help
