The router is standard Sky fibre which is wired by 15+metres of Cat. 6 ethernet cable to a Chord English Electric Switch. One 3m Chord ethernet cable feeds the Auralic G2.1 Streamer. A

nother 1m length feeds the Sky Wi-Fi booster. The system is two floors from the router. An ipad is usually used to control the system – although it can obviously be driven directly from the Macbook. I am not using a VPN.

I am 74 years old and my eyesight has recently started to deteriorate. A 13” Macbook is not the choice I would now make!

Roon no longer works.
I started streaming 3 years ago and quickly realised that I needed a better way of organising my music. Roon seemed the only option and after a brief trial I bought a lifetime subscription.

Everything has worked perfectly for two years until I took my MacBook away on holiday, when I switched my Macbook Air on and off several times and used it to watch iPlayer and browse the internet. Upon my return home it did not work. I got screenshot 1 on loading and screenshot 2 after the choice of “Find my Roon Core”

Welcome to the forum.

Is your Roon Core on the MacBook like you wrote at the start of your post or is it a separate Core like when you do “Find my Roon Core (Nucleus, ROCK, etc.)” in the screenshot further down?

Before this problem, did you always use the full Roon software as the core on your MacBook?

Or, do you also have Roon server installed in parallel, which, then, would usually run in the background as your core without any graphical user interface?

If the latter is the case and you had disabled auto start during your vacation, it would not be wondrous that no core is found now.

I have solved the problem. It was simply a matter of following the instruction to “Set up a Roon Core on this Mac” - Following instructions I entered my password and it sorted out in an instant! I did however learn that room stores a copy of the library every 4 days and keeps the last 5? copies; so that worry was unfounded.
