Hi @Enrico_Corvonato, welcome back to the community.

If Roon Server on your Mac stopped loading right after the 2.71 update, the first thing we want to confirm is whether this is a startup failure or just the app not showing up normally in the menu bar. Since Ventura is involved, there are also a couple of macOS permission and background-process checks that can matter here.

To get a clearer picture, a few things would help:

  • When you try to start Roon Server, what exactly happens, does it quit immediately, hang on launch, or never appear at all?
  • Is the Mac running Roon Server only, or is it also being used as a Roon Remote?
  • Did macOS show any prompt for permissions, login items, or background items after the update?
  • If you temporarily disable your macOS firewall, does Roon Server start normally?

If you can, please also tell us whether the Mac is on Intel or Apple silicon, and whether Roon Server is launching from the Applications folder or from a launcher item in the menu bar. Once we know that, we can point you to the next step.

Hi Benjamin,

  • Roon Server does not start, and if I double click on the icon, nothing happens
  • The Mac has both (I think you need to have both in any case) but I generally use it a server and the described failure happens both when the remote is not loaded and when it’s loaded. When the remote is loaded it keeps on searching the server.
  • No prompts for permissions from macOS
  • If I disable macOS firewall, no changes: server does not load, no prompts, nothing…
  • Mac is running on Intel
  • I normally relaunch the server from an alias icon, but I tried directly from the package folder and same behavior: no response

Thank you!

Hi,

any updates on this issue? Seems like it’s quite common and I’d like to know when I can use Roon again.

Kind regards,

Enrico

There was another update that should fix this:

In case the automatic update doesn’t work, you can download and install the update from Download Roon - Mac, Windows, iOS & Android Apps | Free Download
