Server not running on TS-251D

QNAP TS251D NAS latest firmware / Roon Core for QNAP QPKG-Version : 2020-06-22

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)

Modem - Motorolla SB6183 / Linsys Velop Mesh router via Ethernet

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)

Emotiva RMC-1L via HDMI & USB

Description Of Issue

Cannot connect to server. The QNAP just says that the server has STOPPED.

Hi @Nic_Sadler,
Unfortunately the last update introduced an error. I have sent another update to QNAP and provide this updated version already on roononnas,org for manual installation until release in the qnap App Center (at the top of the Page, where the text starts).
Can you try to manually install it with this new installer?

thanks for the swift reply. I knew there was something dastardly afoot in Denmark. Just couldn’t get the duckling thing to connect no matter what I did. Where do I find the installer? I looked on roononnas,org but I’m not seeing the installer file…

Could you elaborate your current situation?

Did you connect successfully with Roon Server on your QNAP?

Did you already added some music files or login to TIDAL/Qobuz and no music is showing up?

Everything seems to be in order but I can’t get anything out of either the USB output or the HDMI output. I thought I might find the answer at the bottom of the glass of rosé I’m drinking. I’m not hopeful on finding a solution there, but the process is not without it’s joys.

I’ll try again. Tomorrow. Possibly sober.

Another day…

So, I’m still trying to get the Roon configured to play music. My configuration is this:

Roon Core installed on my QNAP TS-251D
…connected via USB and HDMI to…
Emotiva RMC-1L

I can’t get Roon to pass audio to either USB or HDMI. Also, If I try to play something on Roon, it recognizes the music file, but then just scrolls through the tracks without playing anything.

Hey Chris… my connection to Roon on the QNAP is still quite unstable. I’m finding I have to restart the QNAP regularly to get Roon Core to work. It’s getting quite frustrating.

Hello @Nic_Sadler, I enabled diagnostics on your account so I could take a look at this and I see a mac computer on your network, would it be possible for you to use that device as the core temporarily?

I managed to get it all working.

I updated the ultraRendu to the newest firmware (which required a new memory card), then updated the NAS. That seemed to fix the problem.

When are you guys updating the Roon Core software for the QNAP?
