Setup question for Cambridge Audio 851N & Synology NAS

Hi,

I recently successfully installed Roon Core (2020-12-15) on my DS1621+ (DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3) & Remote IOS app (iOS 14.3), & it is connected to both the NAS as well as the 851N.

But I play mostly from TIDAL.

So does my NAS need to be powered on when I play off off the Roon app from my phone? In other words does Roon Core need to be running?

Sorry for this noob question… I’m still figuring my way around this (but its a fun journey)

For Roon to work you need the server component to run all the time. It’s a server based system. The app is just a controller to send music to endpoints which the phone itself can be one.
