· Netgear Orbi distributed system. Nucleus 1 plugged directly into main router.
Forgot to mention i have been reseting the nucleus all day. Probably around 10-10 times now. I have also powered it down and unplugged for a few minutes. Issues continue to persist
Interesting. I am absolutly dead in the water now even after reboots. I have remotes on an ipad my iphone, my work pc and my personal macbook air and they are ALL acting the same. I got nothin.
We activated diagnostics mode for your Nucleus and noticed you were able to play music on it recently. Are you still having further issues, or have they subsided? What step was ultimately able to get the unit back to working order? Let us know when you have a chance. Thank you.
I was able to play music for most of the day today after reinstalling the operating system last night via the web browser. While music was playing today, the UI was still laggy. Definitely a lot better but still not as good as it has been the last.couple of months.
Tried again today on Arc. While I did some yard work. One song would play for about 10 seconds the. Would lock up and skip to another song and it never played after waiting for around 5 minutes. I rebooted the nucleus and same result. Nugs app just fine, Spotify no issues. Apple Music no issues. Tidal native app no issues. Roon is the only system that seems to have a problem. Please advise.
Just tried the Roon remote app on my phone and the play now button on an album does nothing. I can click the first song and select play from here and it looks like it is about to play but nothing happens.
Reloaded operating system annd rebooted again. Started playing an album fine then paused album for about half an hour. Hit play and nothing. Hit play on DMP A6 ME nothing. It starts skipping tracks and fails at each track. These are Tidal streams but behaves the same way with local wav files. DMP screen is now showing “no playback content”
We went through the newest logs from your Nucleus, which cover October 5 (about 5:53 PM, the Nucleus’ local time) through October 7. The Nucleus ran for more than a day and a half without restarting, and we no longer see the flood of requests we saw on October 2 and on the evening of October 4. We do still see the Roon app on your MacBook Air connect to the Nucleus about 5 to 10 times an hour, stay connected for around 40 seconds, and then drop. On October 2 and 4 the same drops came with tens of thousands of requests during each connection, and at those times Roon Server on the Nucleus was pausing for several seconds, which matches the lag you described.
Roon 2.73.2 was released on October 7, and your Nucleus was still on 2.73.1 when the logs were pulled. The release notes do not list a fix for this, but we would like to rule out an older version first. Could you please:
Update Roon Server on the Nucleus and the Roon app on the MacBook Air to 2.73.2. In Roon, go to Settings, then About, which lists the updates available for each device (Updating has the details). You may see a “requires a database upgrade” message afterward, which is expected.
Use Roon for a day or two and let us know if the lag returns. If it does, please post the exact time and the device you were using, before rebooting.
If the lag returns, please quit Roon on the MacBook Air and tell us whether it stops.
Please tell us whether the MacBook Air is connected over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Since the drops are between the MacBook Air and the Nucleus, Troubleshooting Orbi Mesh Networks with Roon is also worth a look, in particular unchecking “Disable IGMP Proxying” on the main Orbi router.
Just a note. My Roon is running on an older SGC i5 connected to my Orbi 870 mesh network. It runs rock solid and I do not have IGMP Proxying “unchecked”.
did all of the above and still having the same issues here at home. I will say Arc has been running fine this week. I have not done much local listening this week as I have been busy at work but after an outage that rebooted internet and the server. It was fine on Monday and Tuesday evening but tonight after updating the MacBook Air to Golden Gate 2.7.0.1 it is laggy and not seaching, loading below “daily picks” or playing music this is happening on my MacBook Air and iPhone. I have not tried my work PC or iPad yet. Will report back. All devices are connected over wifi. My main end points are Eversolo DMP-A6 ME gen 1 and Sonos for the most part. I am about to reboot the server. It is 8:30 PM CST on 10/8/26.
We escalated this to engineering behind the scenes and identified a unique pathway causing the symptoms you experienced. This was not an issue with your LAN or macOS Golden Gate specifically.
The workaround if this happens again is to simply quit and reopen Roon on the Mac, leaving the server online.
We don’t have a timeline for the release of the fix, but we’ll mark this thread accordingly as ticketed for now.
Thank you again for the report.
@Still-One, this issue won’t affect every user and is likely intermittent, so it makes sense you system isn’t having the same problems.
This was the fix. things started acting up yesterday and I found my macbook and closed out and it was night and day. I will put the macbook on the bench as a remote until an update comes. Thanks again.
Thanks for confirming, glad quitting and reopening the Mac app sorted it out.
The fix for this is included in Roon 2.74, which is currently in Early Access, and it will reach the regular release after that. We don’t have a date yet. Until then, quitting and reopening Roon on the MacBook Air whenever things start to slow down will keep it in check. There’s no need to reboot the Nucleus.
We’ll keep this thread open as ticketed and post here once the fix is in a regular release.
