Wow. So that Sansui can drive your Ref 1’s to your liking? Is it all original or has it been serviced?

Looks awesome.

It drives them incredibly well. I was worried the sansui wouldn’t have enough power - my previous amp was a high end Lyngdorf but I fancied a change

I took the sansui out on a demo from a local dealer, expecting to return it. I was amazed to be honest, it barely breaks a sweat and rarely goes above 40% on the volume dial. It was owned by a collector and has been well looked after but I believe is all original.

Updates to system initially posted on the older thread. Mostly tweaks to the core components. Some of these changes are in anticipation of upgrades to the upstairs system.
Iso-Acoustic isolation feet for the speakers.
Cardas Clear Beyond power cord for the amp and Audio Sensibility i/c’s for the turntable.
Equi=Core power conditioner and Deep=Core surge protector. These also helped with cable management. The closet used to be an entryway coat closet. Old house remodel long story.
Kept an Apple TV for bluetooth via tousling access for laptop YouTube and occ Spotify playlists featured in NYT. Also works as Roon Tested device.
Sonore optical module deluxe. Used to convert my Bricasti DAC to optical ethernet. Liked the improvement enough that when the network card on the DAC went on the fritz, decided that my next streamer would have optical ethernet. That, along with how much better a U2 mini borrowed from a friend sounded fed into the Bricasti led to purchasing a Lumin U2. The long term plan is for the Bricasti to get the network card fixed and then with the Sonore converter serve as the source upstairs. I have a Wavelength Brick recently updated to N2 that can serve as DAC while considering a DAC that pairs well with the U2 and has inputs for a CD transport.
The Shelves above the audio components are new as is the carpet. Our idea of acoustic room treatments.

Lovely house. Reminds me of a big hacienda style house that I’ve seen in movies.

Nice use of the closet. Did you build the shelf/cabinet?

I did the same, basically, but my stuff is fully IN the closet.

Hi, how do you find these perform for low level listening…say 60dB from a listening position of 2 meters (or 6.5ft) away. Saw some reviews which said they sound amazing but less so at lower levels.

In the same vein, I’m a big fan of Ozric Tentacles and Oresund Space Collective.

I originally made the hole in the brick wall (I’ll only do this once- even closed off with plastic sheeting and using a respirator, it produced a dust cloud through the house that took a while to clear) for a rear projection TV to get a flush to the wall install.

Then came the audio insert that has been modified a number of times to suit the equipment in use. The Equi=Core is pretty heavy - I beefed up the supports adjacent to the amp in a way that still allows plenty of ventilation - and so far no sag; but it’s only been there a week.

Listening Space good to go!

A few days ago I posted about what a mess my listening space was but I didn’t care and sat down to enjoy some music anyway.

Finally got organized in time for the holidays. I enjoy seeing everyone’s listening rooms, so thought I’d share.

My set-up is all-digital via my own music collection on a server, and streaming via Tidal.

Primary Stereo Listening Rig:

  • Power Conditioner: APC H15, Two Mistral Audio W-3900
  • Roon Server: Custom Nucleus Clone, Intel Processor i7, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD drive for OS, 2TB SSD drive for storing music
  • Ethernet Switch: Silent Angel Bonn N8
  • Power Supply For Ethernet Switch: : Silent Angel Forester F1
  • Preamp / Dirac Room Correction: miniDSP SHD Studio
  • USB Re-clocker: Mutec MC-3+ USB
  • Amplification / Loudspeakers: Devialet Phantom 1 108dB

how has your experience been with the Silent Angel switch and PS?

I was skeptical of an ethernet switch making a difference, but came across a lightly used unit so purchased sight unseen b/c of everything positive I had researched. It does make an improvement in a high end system. The power supply is well made and is an improvement over the power wart that came with the component I am using with it.

TY. I take it you are not using the PS w/ the switch?

Nice system. Great speakers. I have the same Dyanudios though the Signature C2’s. Have the same IsoAcoustics too. Great.
