You have to start somewhere!
My core runs on a 2013 MacBook Pro with all my local files stored on an external 5 TB USB drive.
This Mac is hidden behind the couch in the living room. Amphetamine prevents it from sleeping.
I have around 1100 lossless CD rips (FLAC) using approximately 500 GB.
Backups currently reside at Dropbox.
Furthermore I have a TIDAL subscription.
Now the listening part.
I switch between Apple AirPods Max and a bluetooth Marshall Stanmore II speaker.
So what’s next.
I have ordered a second hand Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ with a simple USB to 3.5 mm audio jack for the Marshall speaker. This makes it much more easier to listen on the speaker at home.
Next up, hopefully this year, will see the arrival of an Intel NUC with enough storage to act as my new core and local file library.
Phase 3 will be a nice stereo pair of speakers or a proper headphone to actually enjoy all these lossless rips. How much I love the AirPods Max it kind of sucks there is no way of listening to actual lossless audio.
