I have solved my similar (I think) issue. Awful search speed and minutes to start playback, sometimes not starting. I have searched but please let me know if there is another topic like this already.
I had to delete and restore the database (not massive, 33000 tracks all local) and restore from backup. Then clear playback history (AI says the culprit, 55000 entries since a good while back from 2020). Also had to reinstall ffmpeg codec for Live Radio. I play many formats DSD, flac, 192Khz, 24 bit etc.
Clearly there is an issue with a large playback history, I’m guessing affecting the Database and also the coms between server (core) and client. As stated above, AI search tells me there is work in progress to update (early bird access is issuing updates). I’m not an early adopter these days
, sorry. Hopefully auto delete on Playback history or if required some better management of the database
After liking Roon, mainly trouble free on ROCK after running on Windows, I am disappointed I have had to spend 3 hours today sorting this. Great help with Google Gemini AI though finding out the cause, playback history seemingly. I work in IT, software development and an engineer previously in audio, before Roon building my own hardware and using Jplay (I no longer use).
Latest build Roon Server 2.67 build 1661 running on ROCK Intel NUC 10 i7 16GB RAM, 200GB NVMe SSD for system, 2TB SSD for music files. Local network is 1GB, mostly wired (ROCK server 1GB ethernet). Wifi if multi accesspoint high speed (866-1300 mbit). Many endpoints some wired using CAT8 ethernet (low noise) for my high end system. Internet broadband 500MB. Running IPv6 and IPv4 (ARC requires IPv4). All files recognized. Recently terrible performance on multiple UI’s:- Apple Iphone 17, Windows high spec Laptop (client both on Ethernet and Wifi). Regardless of endpoint. 10 endpoints but usually only use 1 or 2 at the same time.
I don’t often post but really thought I had to, hopefully this helps others.
Incidentally, off topic I know, I can recommend DietPi Debian build Linux on Intel Nuc to run Roon Bridge for those that can install. So much better than Windows.
Roon team, keep up the good work, hope you are sorting. Thanks
