Small pop / crack when song change from lossless to MQA

Hi there,

I am a little concerned that this may damage my speakers.

So my setup is ROCK ->unsampled to DSD->Silent Angel-> Denafrip Pontus Dac

Every time the song switch from normal flac to MQA there’s a small pop / crack.

Does anyone know what could cause this and should I be concerned?

Thanks

Hi Tyson,

Unfortunately some DACs do exhibit some noise when changing formats or sampling rates etc.
There’s a few things you can try to mitigate this.
First would be to add some resync delay.
You’ll find this in Device Setup.

Start small and gradually increase it.

If that doesn’t work you could try disabling MQA decoder in Roon.
It’s under the advanced tab in device settings.
I’m totally guessing with this suggestion but since you’re converting to DSD presumably you’re not interested in MQA and maybe this will help?

Or there’s the baby with the bath water solution and you could switch to Qobuz and avoid MQA altogether. But you might want to first confirm this is only happening with MQA and not other sample/bitrate changes.
