Thanks for the update! From a fresh diagnostic report, we can confirm The two favorited tracks are logged clearly, and they match what you reported:

  • Tear: favorited at 06/25 22:01:09 (server time) = 23:01:09 local time, June 25
  • Perfect: favorited at 06/25 22:01:41 (server time) = 23:01:41 local time, June 25
In regards to the incorrect ‘date added’ field:
  1. Is there a chance you had different versions of these tracks added at the prior date?
  2. Or, had you ever removed the tracks, and recently had them re-added?
If you navigate to Roon Settings > Library > Import settings > Scroll down and review your ‘Import date defaults to’ setting, what is it currently set to?

If you change the setting to ‘File creation time’ - do your incorrect date added dates correct themselves?

Yes to 1. I purchased a remastered version of the album and replaced the existing favourites with the same tracks from the remastered album.
I’ve also checked what my import date defaults are and it’s set to “Roon import timestamp”. I tried the other import date default options but it didn’t change the import dates to those tracks.

Thanks for confirming that, it’s the missing piece. Between your reply and a fresh look at the diagnostics, we’ve now got a clear picture, and the good news is that most of what’s happening here is working as intended.

First, on the smart playlist itself: the logs show it is updating. When you favorited “Tear” and “Perfect” at just after 23:01 on June 25, the playlist recalculated and its track count moved up at that exact moment, and it has continued to move as you’ve added and removed favorites since. So the playlist is picking up your new favorites correctly. If you were seeing the count appear frozen at 209, that was almost certainly a view that hadn’t refreshed rather than the playlist being stuck. Backing out of the playlist and reopening it, or restarting the app, should show the current number.

Now, the date-added showing as an older date. This ties directly to your answer to question 1: you replaced your original Adore tracks with the same tracks from the remastered album. When you do that, Roon recognizes the new files as the same album and track you already had in your library, and it keeps the original library entry, including the date you first added those tracks. So the remastered files inherit the earlier “date added” rather than getting today’s date. This is expected behavior, not a fault with the playlist or with favorites.

That also explains why changing “Import date defaults to” didn’t correct it. That setting only affects how brand-new imports are stamped going forward; it doesn’t rewrite the date on tracks that were matched to an entry already in your library.

A couple of things that would help confirm and, if you’d like, correct this:

  1. Please open the Adore (2014 Remix) album in Roon and check the Versions section, to see whether the remastered rip is stacked as a version of the album you originally had. That would confirm what we're seeing.
  2. If having an accurate "date added" on these tracks matters to you, the reliable way to reset it is to remove the remastered tracks from your library entirely (move the files from your storage folder, let Roon clear them from its database, and confirm they're gone), then add the remastered files back in fresh. They'll then import with a current date. You would need to re-favorite them afterward, so this is only worth doing if the date is important to you.
In short: your favorites are registering and your smart playlist is updating, and the older date-added is a side effect of swapping in the remastered versions rather than anything broken. Please try the version check above and let us know what you see, and whether you'd like to go the route of re-adding the tracks fresh.

Thanks for that comprehensive explanation @benjamin A slight correction to me earlier post; I added the remaster as an additional version of the album rather than replacing the original version with it. I have two versions of the album in my library. Both imported on different dates. When I check the Versions section, it is stacked above the original version of the album. If I try and re-identify the album, only the original is offered as an option. It’s something I’ll need to bear in mind moving forward. That having 2 different versions of an album will always have the same import date regardless of when the second version was added to my library. This also seems to apply to the playlist “date added” field. I’d assumed the “date added” column on a playlist view was the date aded to the playlist but it appears not.
