SMB / AFP problems

Hi Daniel,

I can get it to mount and I’ve even created a process in automator to mount on restarts but on reboot it either takes an age or fails.

I’ve put it to one side now after reading on the Western Digital forums that this is a common problem.

In the meantime I’m using a directly connected USB hard drive which is fine.

Going to get a NETGEAR RN10200-100EUS ReadyNAS and a WD red 3TB drive as a replacement.
I’ve double checked that you can turn afp off :grinning:

I’ve used ReadyNAS before they were bought by Netgear, now that was equiopment built like a tank, still have one around. And later a ReadyNAS Pro. Thinking about a new one sometime in '16.

Go on Daniel! Treat yourself :grinning:

Cheers for your help

Mount is an SMB drive and then drag it as an SMB drive to your startup items. That’s what I do and it works like a charm.

Tried this @fritzg and it fails usually on reboot.

I believe its a problem with the WD mybooklive smb protocol

Are all other automatic mounts disabled?

I’m no 100% sure how to do that. I’ll have a Google

Hi Everyone,

I’ve found a workaround that is working 100% every time, even after reboot.
Can you just confirm its OK using this method?
I have used Finder-Go-Connect To Server but instead of using smb or cifs I tried ftp.
This worked instantly and loaded my Nas.
I was next able to add the share through Roon’s storage menu and it added my library successfully.
I then added the drive to my start up items in my profile.
After reboot the drive loaded instantly and my library was still there in Roon.
I’ve rebooted about 10 times just to make sure its permanent and it’s loaded every time.
