is there an audio only streaming option?
I too would love such an integration, but,âŠ
I think it would be hard to implement and not sure Bandcamp would (or could) share the needed purchasing information.
Bandcamp has restrictions based on artistâs agreements on what can or cannot be streamed without purchase, not just a stream limit, a hard no streams. Take Gary Numan, his latest Telekon re-issue in on Bandcamp, but, you can only stream one track, without purchase; and on most of his older albums, you cannot stream any tracks unless purchased.
Hmm, maybe and maybe something the devs for the Lyrion plugin managed to workaround.
Itâs also worth noting itâs lossy at 256kbps, regardless of its via Lyrion, Sonos or other methods. This includes your purchases.
Yes, Bandcamp is great for artists, but I donât think an integration would ever included a purchasing model.
I think a clickable link to Discogs for the album being played, would be a great idea. ![]()
Oh I am sure it would be challenging. When I said âmake senseâ, I really meant to my own selfish needs/wants ![]()
Still one can dream.
Sadly no. I listen to it via streaming out of a Shield TV Pro USB out into dCS Rossini Apex. It sounds very good.
Still waiting patiently for the groundswell of support for Relisten being added. ![]()
Hey Community,
Weâve seen your questions about the release, and wanted to give you an update.
First offâthank you for your patience and for the excitement youâve shown for this. Weâve enjoyed your concert experiences immenselyâsome of those shows must have been absolutely incredible to witnessâand we canât wait to share what weâre building with you.
Weâre putting in some extra time on the release to ensure our goal of bringing the energy and excitement of live music into your home works seamlessly from day one. Weâd rather take the time to ensure it delivers the experience we all expect.
Weâre still just as excited as ever for you to get your hands on it. The opportunity to add some finishing touches will make it even better the first time you press play. Youâre going to experience something that truly transforms how you listen to live music in Roon.
Weâll keep you posted as we get closer. Thanks again for your patience, support, and enthusiasm for Roon.
Thanks @jamie for this update. Good knowing the reason for the delay on the release.
I have an inkling of whatâs coming, gut feeling, but highly intrigued how this will affect users who donât/wont use this new feature.
I purely speculate that this involves the Roon Remote, and curious if this is the case whether this feature would have the option to be disabled.
Update? What update? I must have missed that. I did see a shipping slip notice tho. ![]()
we donât want problems, we want solutions ![]()
I sure that this excites many but for those that prefer the studio versions it looks like thereâs not much happening, hopefully some time will be devoted to fixing long outstanding bugs as wellâŠ.![]()
But surely a live performance is not the same as steaming a live recording, is it?
There has been a lot of this over the past 12 mthsâŠ.
Exactly, depends what is meant by âlive.â For example, in cinemaâs live means showing a recording of a live performance. I guess weâll have to wait for further information on the definition of live.
Thanks for your follow-up post to your original post Jamie. Hope testing goes well.
July 6, 1969 Newport Jazz Festival, outdoors in Newport RI
BB Kingâs band came on and warmed the crowd up for a few songs, then BB came out and plugged into his Fender amp, tilted back at an angle. BB was dressed sharp for the summer evening, crisp blazer, tie, white pants. BB hit two of his BB notes and the crowd was in the palm of his hand. He sang and played for only about 20 minutes and then left, with the crowd roaring for more. The announcer tried to calm them down, telling everybody, âBB will be back a little later.â
The roadies took BBâs band equipment off stage and rolled out enough wattage to power a small radio station: twin Marshall stacks 6 feet tall on either side of a drum kit stacked with cymbals and multiple drums.
Johnny Winter had just been signed to the largest contract Columbia had ever written, and really hadnât been heard outside of Texas and the Gulf Coast. The buzz was beginning on him, but most folks hadnât heard him, much less seen him.
Johnny Winter came out looking like some strange albino vampire. He looked like he weighed about 100 pounds, dressed completely in black and playing a white Stratocaster. He started playing furiously, blues with quicksilver notes and his gravelly voice. The crowd was stunned. It was good, but unlike anything anybody had ever heard before. Everybody just kind of gaped.
After about ten minutes, Winter broke into BB Kingâs âSweet Little Angelâ, recognizable but just barely. Then, improbably, a roadie came on from stage left pushing out BBâs now-tiny amplifier. Just as he finished, BB strolled on and plugged in, still in his pastel summer blazer.
BB and Johnny played together for about 20 minutes. Johnny worked his ass off, fingers flying up and down the fretboard with lightening speed while BB smiled and chorded rhythm. When BBâs turn came heâd smile and hit justâŠoneâŠnote, and then perhaps a vibrato. He played with the beat and the silence, using the silence and the anticipation as much as the notes he played.
Winter would take over again with his deluge of notes, filling all the space and all the time like music out of a firehose. BB would lean back and hitâŠthatâŠoneâŠnote.
As it went on the look on BBâs face was like, âKid - youâre real good, but you got a lot to learn.â
Later that night, after Max Roach, Led Zeppelin played.
Damn - Iâm a geezer.
Johnny Winter was always so so great. Introduced a lot of people to a new type of music.
Forgotten legend.
Very nicely described. Thanks for the memory.
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing
