Description of Issue
I keep losing connection through roon to the streamer resulting in drop outs (several times or more per track). It’s not my connection wifi as I can play directly through the streamer (by passing roon) with no drop outs. It’s not the particular service on Roon as I have the problem both with Tidel and with Qobuz tracks. I have rebooted the nucleus + and rebooted the streamer.
What I didn’t get: Is the Nucleus wired directly to the switch, without a wifi link in-between?
In fact it can be and is most likely the wifi. Other network applications may work, but they work differently than Roon. I would try to temporarily run an Ethernet cable instead and test if that solves the problem. If it confirms that it’s the wifi, then you can think about how to solve that.
Another cause could be DSP load, if you use a lot. Please post a screenshot of your signal path.
And you probably want to remove your email address from your second picture - this is a public forum.
I’ve had a lot of dropouts as well when using Roon with my wifi at home. Even though the signal strength was always about 100% and with over 800 mbps connection speed.
After connecting both core and my Cambridge CXNv2 streamer to Ethernet the dropouts have completely disappeared. Although it seems it is streamer specific, as my Bluesound Node X happily plays using the same wifi network. The Cambridge has a tendency of dropping out when on wifi.
I would recommend trying to connect your Nucleus and streamer to Ethernet as it will most likely solve your issues.
Thanks, I should have noted in my original post - ny nucleus is ethernet connected to my network and my streamer is ethernet connected to my network (each through Araknis switches). I’m thinking this could be a nucleus + problem.
Thanks - yes, both my nucleus + and my streamer are ethernet connected to my network.
Good catch re: the photo (I corrected that :-))
On the DSP - i had included a photo with the signature path - unless you have something else in mind.
And thank you for the reply. I’m thinking this may be a nucleus + problem since I can play with out dropping directly through my streamer when I don’t go through roon.
Thanks, yes, wifi is good (probably didn’t need to mention it) - Good news, I did another reboot of the nucleus + 30 minutes ago and disconnected and reconnected the ethernet connection to the nucleus - I’ve gotten through 20 minutes of listening without a drop!
I’ll do a more extensive listening session later today and report back to this thread if the problem reoccurs.
