Description of Issue

I own the SONY receiver model STR-DN1080.
Sony is not displayed in the list of supported partner.
So i cannot find the receiver to get the best settings.

Is there an option to make the best of the combination ROON and the SONY receiver.

You can either use HDMI from Windows or AirPlay over network.

…is Chromecast built-in, so when looking up Roon’s relevant site, you’ll find the following info:

…
Chromecast is fully supported by Roon! Chromecast can be setup just the same as any other zone within Roon. Simply head to Settings > Audio and enable your Chromecast device.
## Hardware Support
The following devices have been fully tested and supported:
Chromecast Gen 1
Chromecast Gen 2
Chromecast Audio
Chromecast Ultra
Google Home
Google Home Mini
Google Home Max
Most devices with “Chromecast Built-in”
…
All Chromecast devices support gapless playback with Roon. Chromecast Audio supports high-resolution music (up to 96kHz/24-bit), while other Chromecast devices support a sample rate up to 48kHz. On Chromecast devices that support video Roon displays album artwork, artist photos, and track information in addition to audio.
…

Or …

Whatever makes you happier!

Thanks for the answer.
I have no problem with playing to the receiver with the inbuild chromecast.
It is only that there is a choice to indentify that device. Roon only sees the inbuilded chromecast but not the specific characters of the receiver.

Only networked Roon Ready devices can be identified… and yours is not!
